Hailing from Boston (USA), the four members of Junius represent an undoubtely strong creative force to be reckoned with in the wide panorama composed of post-rock, post-metal and modern alternative rock.
The bearded band crafted several EPs and two LPs: “The Martyrdom Of A Catastrophist” (2009) and “Reports From The Threshold Of Death” (2011). So, what do they sound like? Like a dark, winding journey through the human soul and its strongest feelings, like love, yearning and loneliness. Emotional vulnerability, thick, ethereal atmospheres and sludgy aggression. Not a forgiving listen to the mind and to the heart. Yet, in all the sadness and melancholy, Junius seek to bring light and hope to such dark places. Their albums are very personal (according to the band itself); “Martyrdom” follows the life and death of Immanuel Velikovsky, Russian-born American philosopher, while “Reports” (logical step forward) talks about near-death experiences and the journey of the soul after death.
