fadelikeafilminthesun asked: I disagree with you (I think Sum-41 is pretty sweet), but that's besides the point. The point is that you should like whatever you like and the grammies can go fuck themselves. Music only has as much value as you give to it, so don't bother getting angry because someone disagrees with you.

Fans of Devin Townsend and progressive metal will likely find something to appreciate with this debut album. Mixing catchy melodies with intense musicianship and implementing the wall-of-sound layers makes a promising entry to existence of the debut, concept album.
As this is being posted, you can listen to the free 3-track EP “Karma” to know what’s to come, and yet...

Not sure if the Grammys are a fucking joke.
Okay, okay, I know, it’s a mostly mainstream parade, but one can’t help but feel baffled at the nominations in the Rock, Metal, Electronic and Alternative nominations. In my opinion, the only two redeeming chances are: Mastodon’s “Curl of the Burl” (nominated for best Hard Rock\Metal performance) and Steven Wilson’s Grace for Drowning (nominated for Best...

A short communication
As I’ve done several times by now, I apologize with you, the IEH audience for the lack of constancy on my behalf. I’ve been somewhat busy studying, and stressed out, which led to a temporary disinterest in musical exploration.
Things will be back to normality very soon! Thanks for your patience.

Band of the week: Junius
Hailing from Boston (USA), the four members of Junius represent an undoubtely strong creative force to be reckoned with in the wide panorama composed of post-rock, post-metal and modern alternative rock.
The bearded band crafted several EPs and two LPs: “The Martyrdom Of A Catastrophist” (2009) and “Reports From The Threshold Of Death” (2011). So, what do they sound like?...

New Necro Deathmort album in 2012
From the band’s Facebook page:
We’ve finished recording the new album, and are very excited by the results: it’s our darkest and heaviest recording yet. Looking at an April release date, so we should be bringing it with us to Roadburn…

Steven Wilson no longer full time member of...
Straight from the man himself’s Facebook page (which implies a new Blackfield album to be released in 2012):
Folks, just to clarify news elsewhere of a new Blackfield album coming this year - please note that this time my involvement will be as a contributor rather than a member. I will still be mixing the album, and maybe sing on a couple of Aviv’s songs (there will be other...

Kustin's lame 2011 list
Note: This list was originally meant to be submitted for the Last.fm journal but since a few of my colleagues posted their lists here in this merry IEH blog, I’ve decided to put mine up here as well.
So… with another year wrapped up and tons of new songs I’ve experienced, I could say that this was a real good round! For memory’s and for fun’s sake, I’ve...

Alex's dumb 2011 list
Another year gone. I’ve listened to lots and lots of different music throughout the year, yet I didn’t really keep up with all the new releases (shame on me, I know): there are a couple of albums I still need to check out.
But I think I can safely say 2011 has been a great year for music, we have seen many creative artists and bands entering the musical scene or leaving it (some...

idiocy's killa 2011 list
Howdy y’all!
Well it’s that time of the year again! Time to get trampled to death in the shopping malls, curse at the weather gods for a lack of snow, augment waistlines in the name of festive dining, and, of course, look back at the year in music!
So, notwithstanding the likely fact that you are fed up with year-end lists, I too have decided to jump on the bandwagon and look back at...
